About Bennett Jones LLP

Bennett Jones LLP is a national business law firm that traces its roots to Calgary, where it was founded in 1922. One of its two founders, R.B. Bennett, went on to become Canada's 11th prime minister in 1930, and the firm still acts as the Calgary Stampede's principal legal advisor, a relationship that began the same year the firm opened its doors. The firm's other founder, Maclean (Mac) Everett Jones, is credited with shaping its business minded, straight talking culture during the postwar oil and gas boom in Alberta.

Bennett Jones opened its Toronto office in 1989. It isn't the firm's headquarters, that's historically been Calgary, but it's one of seven Bennett Jones offices across Canada and the United States, alongside Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal and New York. The Toronto team works out of One First Canadian Place, in the city's Financial District, on corporate and commercial law, litigation and dispute resolution, tax, and advisory matters. The firm marked its hundredth anniversary in 2022 and now counts about 450 lawyers and legal professionals firmwide.
