About Melissa
Melissa Birman works as a knowledge management lawyer at Bennett Jones LLP, supporting the firm's corporate practice groups across all its offices. She previously maintained a general corporate commercial practice focused on corporate development and governance, advising on private equity and debt transactions, private mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, shareholder arrangements, and director protection matters such as duties, indemnification, and insurance. She has written a chapter in Directors' Duties in Canada and co-edited earlier editions of that work. She joined Bennett Jones after summering and articling there, and holds LLB and BCL degrees with distinction from McGill University, earned in 2007. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008.
