About Sarah
Sarah Gilbert advises clients at Bennett Jones LLP on environmental and health and safety issues, including contaminated property, spill response, air emissions, waste management, and drinking water requirements. She has extensive experience with the transportation of dangerous goods, including petroleum crude oil by rail, and helps clients develop regulatory compliance strategies and negotiate with regulators. Sarah advises vendors, purchasers, lenders, and underwriters on the environmental aspects of transactions and represents clients in enforcement and administrative proceedings, including prosecutions. She also has significant experience with contaminated property liabilities, from negotiating remediation between landowners to advising on remediation orders and civil actions. Sarah works across sectors including manufacturing, transportation, chemicals, energy, and agribusiness, and she contributed a chapter to the 7th edition of Directors' Duties in Canada.
