Yonatan Eshetu is a trial lawyer and managing director at What The Law. He completed his undergraduate degree at Brock University, earning honours in psychology and sociology with a minor in philosophy, and went on to study at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he led the criminal law division of the school's legal clinic, CLASP. His practice centers on serious criminal charges, including murder, firearms offences, drug trafficking, and sexual assault cases, often involving confidential informants, search warrants, and wiretaps. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. Yonatan has successfully argued Charter applications alleging unlawful search and seizure, arbitrary detention, and excessive force by police, and has also challenged the validity of search warrants and the voluntariness of police statements.
