Albert Chan is a Senior Associate at Torys focusing on intellectual property and regulatory matters, particularly in the food, pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. He advises clients on advertising, marketing and promotion of pharmaceutical products, plus related privacy and regulatory issues. His work includes drafting and negotiating agreements such as licensing, R&D and commercial contracts for regulated products, along with counseling on Food and Drugs Act compliance. Albert has also handled patent filings in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and plant genetic engineering. Before entering law, he worked as a technical scientist at the University of Alberta, then as a federal research biologist and a quality control analyst at Biomira Inc., supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing for cancer vaccine trials.
