About Umaiyahl
Umaiyahl Nageswaran practises civil litigation, constitutional law, class actions, and construction-industry labour law. She grew up in Scarborough, which she cites as the source of her interest in social justice and workers' rights. She earned her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she spent eight months in the Workers' Rights Division at Parkdale Community Legal Services representing non-unionized workers in wrongful dismissal, wage theft, and workplace harassment and discrimination matters. She also volunteered with the Worker's Action Center, helping workers pursue claims against employers under the Employment Standards Act. Before law school, she completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia as a Sabourin Loran Scholar, majoring in History and minoring in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice. After summering and articling at Goldblatt Partners, she rejoined the firm as an associate.
