Shalom Cumbo-Steinmetz is a senior associate at Torys who handles complicated commercial disputes through arbitration and litigation across the country. His matters have been heard at the Federal Court, every level of court in Ontario, and courts in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Yukon. He also carries a broad business law practice covering contract disputes, corporate liability, and trust and estate issues, with particular emphasis on infrastructure, data security, and insurance matters. Shalom works on large post-construction disputes involving engineering and design problems, cost overruns, delays, and environmental contamination, and he has handled emergency applications such as injunctions, adjudications, construction liens, and judicial reviews. He also regularly acts for major Canadian businesses in high-profile insurance and data security cases, including class actions. Outside his practice, he sits on the board of the Loran Scholars Foundation, previously served on the Ontario Bar Association's privacy law executive, and co-captains the Torys Running Club.
