About Tayla
Tayla Basawa is an associate in DWF's Calgary office, practising civil litigation including bodily injury, commercial, and insurance matters, and she also assists First Nations clients on litigation issues. She began her career as a summer student in 2023, completed her articling term in 2024, and was called to the Bar in 2025. Basawa has appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, and has assisted with matters before the Court of King's Bench of Saskatchewan. She graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, where she volunteered with Student Legal Assistance, and holds an undergraduate degree with distinction in Criminal Justice from Mount Royal University. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2025.
