About Tara
Tara McDonald focuses on governance support and section 35 litigation, working with Indigenous nations on developing and implementing Indigenous laws and appearing in Canadian courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. She served as a judicial law clerk at the Federal Court of Canada under Justice Paul Favel, interned in Senator Yvonne Boyer's Senate office, and held summer student and intern roles at law firms serving Indigenous nations, gaining exposure to First Nation election disputes, class actions, and consultation matters. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in global development and political studies from Queen's University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, graduating cum laude, having participated in the Dean's Legal Research and Writing Fellowship and four research assistantships focused on access to justice and Aboriginal law. She was called to the bar in 2022 and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Ontario, both since 2022.
