About Andrew

Andrew Petter, CM, OBC, KC is counsel at Arvay Finlay LLP. He is a former Attorney General of British Columbia, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (1991-2001) who held multiple cabinet portfolios, a former dean of the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law (2001-2008), and a former president and vice-chancellor of Simon Fraser University (2010-2020). He earned his law degree at the University of Victoria, graduating as gold medalist, and a further law degree with first class honours from the University of Cambridge. He has received the Order of Canada, the Order of British Columbia, the King Charles III Coronation Medal, the Peter Lougheed Award for leadership in public policy, honorary citizenship of the City of Victoria, and honorary degrees from Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
