Steven Barker joined Tevlin Gleadle Curtis in September 2016 after being called to the bar of British Columbia earlier that year, following articles with a boutique Fraser Valley employment law firm. He has been lead counsel numerous times in the B.C. Supreme Court and has contributed to matters before the B.C. Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. In 2017 Barker was co-counsel on a nine-day trial that won aggravated and contractual damages for a client, and separately obtained costs against opposing counsel, both rare remedies. He has appeared before several provincial and federal administrative tribunals, including the Social Security Tribunal, the Employment Standards Branch, and the Human Rights Tribunal, and has co-authored and presented at multiple CLE Employment Law Conferences on topics including COVID-related employment insurance issues and the intersection of human rights and employment law.
