About David

David McWhinnie is a litigator whose practice spans employment law, physician workplace matters, and general civil litigation. He obtained his law degree from the University of British Columbia and was called to the bar of British Columbia in 2005, after articling and practising at a large downtown Vancouver firm and later a boutique litigation firm. In 2019 he became one of a small number of lawyers to appear in the Supreme Court of Canada in an employment law case, and he has been listed in the 'Best Lawyers' peer review publication for Labour and Employment Law since 2021. McWhinnie advises physician groups across Western Canada on contract negotiations and workplace and compensation disputes, and has conducted and advised on workplace investigations. He has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the B.C. Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, the Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench and Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
