About Solomon

Solomon is a criminal lawyer and partner at Friedman Mansour LLP, representing clients facing criminal, quasi-criminal, and regulatory charges. He has appeared at all levels of court in Canada, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and has represented clients in jurisdictions across the country including Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nunavut. He sits on Legal Aid Ontario's Extremely Serious Criminal Matters panel and can accept Legal Aid certificates for the most serious cases, including murder, dangerous offender applications, and terrorism charges. He writes and comments frequently on criminal law in national media, including the National Post, the Montreal Gazette, and the Ottawa Citizen, and co-authored the Annotated Firearms Act and Related Legislation, now in its 4th edition. He has testified on firearms law and proposed criminal legislation before House of Commons and Senate committees. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Common Law in 2009 and clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Morris Fish, and he now teaches Evidence and Advanced Criminal Evidence as a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2010 and the Nunavut bar in 2019, and belongs to the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, the Criminal Lawyers' Association, and the County of Carleton Law Association.
