Ruben Tillman maintains a busy administrative, environmental, human rights, and Aboriginal law practice at Ng Ariss Fong. He holds a BA from the University of British Columbia and a JD from the University of Victoria. Ruben has worked with Indigenous clients to prepare evidence for regulatory proceedings, human rights tribunals, and court, and regularly advises First Nations clients and professional regulators on matters ranging from employment and contracts to bylaw enforcement. He has appeared at all levels of BC court and acted for Heiltsuk Nation at the Ontario Court of Appeal on the issue of Aboriginal title to submerged lands. Ruben is part of the legal team challenging the constitutionality of BC's mineral tenure regime on behalf of Gitxaala Nation, the first case to consider the legal effect of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
