King's Counsel, Senior Criminal Defence Lawyer at Strategic Criminal Defence
Rebecca is a King's Counsel and senior criminal defence lawyer based in Calgary who has practised criminal law in Alberta for more than 20 years. Rebecca has personally handled or overseen more than 10,000 criminal cases, including numerous high-profile sexual assault and homicide matters, and is particularly known for a strong court presence and cross-examination skills. The Calgary Police Service has called on Rebecca to teach officers how to testify in criminal trials from a defence perspective. Rebecca serves as Vice President of the Calgary Defence Lawyers Association and has sat on several committees addressing the Provincial Court and Court of King's Bench, including the Criminal Justice Committee, the Court Case Management Committee, and the Domestic Violence Courtroom Committee, and has also served on the Legal Aid Society's appeal committee. Beyond the caseload, mentoring students, guest lecturing at a University of Calgary legal clinic, and instructing in the university's Trial Advocacy Program round out the practice.
