About Rachelle Moncur

Rachelle Moncur is a family lawyer at Gelman & Associates who understands separation from the client's side, too. Rachelle went through a separation and divorce personally, and that experience shapes how closely Rachelle walks with clients as their own cases unfold. Rachelle is also professionally trained in narcissism and narcissistic abuse.

Family law is a second chapter. Rachelle was called to the Ontario bar in 2002 and then spent more than twenty years on insolvency and restructuring work, appearing in courts at every level across Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. That path led all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, where Rachelle was one of three Thornton Grout Finnigan lawyers from Toronto acting for Ernst & Young Inc., as Monitor, in the AbitibiBowater appeal heard in November 2011.

Today Rachelle also sits as a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court, part of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, in its Toronto Region. The University of Windsor granted all three of Rachelle's degrees, in commerce, law and business administration, and there's a certificate in family law skills and practice from Osgoode Professional Development on top of them.

When the workday's over, Rachelle is often training: for duathlons, in which Rachelle has represented Canada at the Multi-Sport World Championships with Age Group Team Canada, and for an Ironman. The rest of that time goes to family and a mischievous Labrador retriever.
