About Claire
Claire McDowell is a lawyer whose practice is centred on family law. She earned her BA in Criminology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Ottawa before attending law school at Lakehead University, and she was called to the bar in 2019. While in law school, Claire served as the Indigenous student representative on Lakehead's committee for creating the Indigenous Law and Justice Institute. As a Metis person, she took part in the 2015 Metis Nation of Ontario Canoe Expedition, paddling from Ottawa to Kenora over four months. Clients have described her as a hard worker who is personable and committed to social justice.
