About Peter
Peter Zachar focuses on estate planning strategies to structure and minimize taxation of inheritances, drafting wills, powers of attorney and living trusts, estate administration, and advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries. He has particular experience helping families plan for children with special needs, including legal guardianship, disability tax credit applications, and estate planning using Henson and Lifetime Benefit Trusts. Peter studied law at the University of Ottawa, articled in civil litigation with a focus on estate matters, and worked on research projects applying data science and machine learning to legal-document complexity. Before becoming a lawyer he completed a PhD in neuroscience and worked as a research associate at the National Research Council studying cellular mechanisms of chronic pain. He volunteers with Special Olympics Ontario and the Viennese Winter Ball.
