About Peter
Peter is a civil litigator with particular interest in administrative law, municipal law, commercial litigation, health law and constitutional law, with extensive experience in land use planning and development advocacy. He has handled complex multi-party litigation, shareholder oppression claims, insurance litigation and a range of commercial, municipal and hospital disputes, and has served as both primary municipal solicitor and external counsel for municipalities, including on town dissolution and amalgamation proceedings before the Utility and Review Board. He also acts for health authorities on medical staff privileges, disciplinary matters, human rights complaints and contractual disputes with physicians. Peter began his career as a law clerk to then-Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Hon. Brian Dickson, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada and all superior courts in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He earned his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1985 and a B.A. from Carleton University in 1974, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1987.
