About Omar
Omar Wakil is a partner at Torys LLP and co-chairs the firm's competition and foreign investment review practice. He advises domestic and international clients on competition law and foreign investment matters, providing strategic advice in merger reviews, cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases under the Competition Act. In his foreign investment work, Wakil advises on net benefit and national security reviews under the Investment Canada Act, representing foreign investors, including state-owned enterprises, and domestic acquisition targets. His clients span sectors including automotive parts, agriculture, chemicals, energy, financial services, grocery retail, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications. Wakil has authored two competition law texts, published by Thomson Carswell. He is a non-practising member of the Law Society of England and Wales and holds leadership roles with the Canadian Bar Association's National Competition Law Section.
