About Patrick

For more than three decades, Patrick Monaghan has worked as a trial and appellate advocate concentrating on casualty, commercial, property, and insurance litigation. He has served as lead counsel in numerous jury and judge-alone trials, along with tribunal hearings and appeals. Since his call to the bar, he has represented clients in the transportation industry in matters ranging from multi-party trucking accidents to products liability, subrogation, priority disputes, and WSIAT hearings. He participated in the leading Supreme Court of Canada decision on equitable contribution, Family v. Lombard, and regularly deals with coverage and contribution issues between insurers. His commercial litigation work covers breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, franchise disputes, professional negligence, and contract disputes involving personal property and real estate. Patrick was called to the Ontario bar in 1985 and holds an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia and a B.A. from Western University. He is a member of the Advocates' Society, the Toronto Lawyers Association, and the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association.
