About Neal

Neal Ross heads Osler's Calgary Corporate Group and belongs to the firm's National Private Equity Working Group. Neal advises on corporate and securities law, with a practice built around mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Neal counsels U.S. and international acquirers and investors entering the Canadian market, and supports Canadian businesses pursuing cross-border growth or access to foreign capital markets. His work covers private equity financings, debt and equity offerings, public company compliance, and strategic recapitalizations, including leveraged buyouts, growth capital investments, SPAC combinations, and go-private transactions. Neal has particular depth in energy, natural resources, and agribusiness, including upstream oil and gas, midstream infrastructure, agricultural operations, and industrial projects. Before joining Osler, Neal served as in-house corporate counsel at Shell Canada while it was TSX-listed. Earlier, Neal clerked at the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan.
