About Michael
Michael is a Partner in the firm's St. John's office whose practice focuses on real property law, municipal law and related litigation and dispute resolution. His work has included expropriation compensation claims, municipal assessment and taxation and zoning matters, and judicial review of administrative decisions. He acted for the Lynch family in a series of cases against the City of St. John's, ultimately securing rulings from the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal that the city's watershed zoning had constructively expropriated the family's land. He was named Queen's Counsel in 2010, and is a past president of the Canadian Property Tax Association, a member of the Ontario Expropriation Association, and a past chair of the St. John's Port Authority. He was named Best Lawyers' Real Estate Law 'Lawyer of the Year' in St. John's for 2026.
