About David

Goodland was born and raised in St. John's and graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a B.A. in 1985 and from the University of New Brunswick with an LL.B. in 1989. He was called to the Bar of Newfoundland and enrolled as a solicitor of the Supreme Court on April 11, 1990, and has practiced in St. John's since then. His preferred areas of practice are labour, insurance, corporate and commercial litigation, and personal injury, and he has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, all levels of court in Newfoundland and Labrador, and various administrative tribunals. He was for several years an instructor for the Law Society of Newfoundland's Bar Admission course, received the Best Lawyers 2025 'Lawyer of the Year' award for corporate and commercial litigation in St. John's, and is listed among The Best Lawyers in Canada for corporate and commercial litigation, labour and employment law, and personal injury litigation.
