About Mercy

Mercy Afrane is a lawyer at Ackroyd LLP, which she joined as an associate in 2025. She earned an LLB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana in 2016 and an LLM from York University in Toronto in 2021, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2022. She practises mainly in family law, civil litigation, real estate, wills and estates, business law, and environmental law, with courtroom experience in the Alberta Court of Justice and King's Bench. Before moving to Canada for further education, she worked in corporate and compliance roles at multinational companies in Ghana's telecommunications and oil and gas sectors. She volunteers as counsel with the Edmonton Community Legal Clinic and Civil Claims Duty Counsel through Pro Bono Law Alberta and serves as a Board Director for the Edmonton Heritage Council.
