About Monica

Monica Wang earned a Bachelor of Science from Sun Yat-sen University in China in 2003, a Master of Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 2007, and a law degree from the University of Alberta in 2017. She articled at a downtown Edmonton law firm and stayed on as an associate before joining Verhaeghe Law. Her practice focuses on family law, civil litigation, and immigration appeals. In family law she handles parenting, mobility applications, international child abduction, child support, spousal support and matrimonial property division, with particular experience in Emergency Protection Orders. In civil litigation she has appeared in matters involving contract disputes, debt collection, and corporate governance disputes. In immigration law she focuses on humanitarian and compassionate grounds applications, sponsorship appeals, and judicial reviews of administrative decisions, and has represented clients before immigration tribunals and the Federal Court of Canada. She has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, and the Court of Appeal of Alberta, and offers legal services in Mandarin Chinese.
