About Alexander

Alexander (Alex) Yiu is a partner at Ackroyd LLP, called to the Alberta Bar in 2007 and the Yukon Bar in 2013. He holds a BA (2003) and LLB (2006) from the University of Alberta and an LLM from McGill University (2010). He joined Ackroyd as an associate in 2017 after gaining litigation experience at boutique and regional Edmonton firms and serving as Legal Counsel to the Court of Appeal of Alberta from 2014 to 2016. His litigation practice spans multiple court levels and administrative tribunals, including the Metis Settlements Appeal Tribunal and the Alberta Utilities Commission, and he has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on leave to appeal matters. He also practises mediation and Judicial Dispute Resolution, and since 2022 has served as Faculty Team Leader for the Legal Education Society of Alberta's annual advocacy course, in addition to teaching civil procedure and professionalism and ethics at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.
