About Meera

Meera Thakrar has focused her practice exclusively on immigration, refugee, and citizenship law since being called to the British Columbia Bar in 2004. She advises employers, individuals, and families on temporary and permanent entry to Canada and citizenship, with a focus on the education, resource, life sciences, and hospitality sectors. She has represented clients before all divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada, and regularly presents on Canadian immigration developments to legal and business audiences. She holds a BA from the University of Calgary (1999) and an LLB from the University of Victoria (2003), and previously chaired the Canadian Bar Association's BC Immigration Law section.
