About Martin

Martin Brandsma is a partner at Lenczner Slaght focusing on intellectual property litigation and strategy, covering patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets and industrial designs. His clients span biotechnology, life sciences, consumer goods, technology, telecommunications, sound recording and collective rights management. He regularly acts in pharmaceutical patent cases under Canada's Patented Medicines Notice of Compliance Regulations, appearing before the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal for major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Before law school, Martin earned an M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Western University, researching the design and optimization of recombinant therapeutic biologics. He holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa and an Honours B.Sc. in Genetics from Western, and he was called to the Ontario bar in 2013.
