About Mark

Mark Klar's principal practice areas are insolvency, restructuring and banking. He represents a broad range of clients, including financial institutions, equipment lessors, private equity firms, trustees, and private and court-appointed receivers, and regularly advises financial institutions on day-to-day banking matters such as account operations, fraud, customer disputes, privacy and risk management. He has extensive experience with enforcement and collection matters. Mark earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 1981, an MBA from Western University in 1985, and an LLB from Dalhousie University in 1988, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990. Before joining Chaitons LLP in 1991 he practiced corporate and commercial law at another Toronto firm and worked as a management consultant for Arthur Andersen & Company. He has taught the insolvency section of the bar admission course and speaks French and Hebrew in addition to English.
