About Alex

Alex is a partner at Chaitons LLP who advises Schedule I banks, credit unions and private lenders on financing transactions from commitment through closing. A background in accounting, finance and private equity gives her a business-focused perspective on lending deals, financial covenants and lending structures. Her practice centres on secured lending across real estate and construction financings, term loans, and mortgage-backed and asset-based lending, and she prepares and negotiates commitment letters, credit agreements, loan documentation and priority arrangements. She also works with the firm's insolvency and restructuring group on credit bids and receiver-led sales. Alex holds a joint J.D. from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2017 and is also a non-practising licensed attorney in Illinois.
