About Layne
Layne Hellrung resolves complex disputes in business, real estate, construction, and estate matters, with much of his practice involving disputes over co-ownership of land or companies and issues arising from construction and real estate development. He also works as local counsel alongside off-Island firms. Before joining Cook Roberts, he spent twelve years practicing in Vancouver, the last eight at national law firms, and is noted as counsel in 29 reported decisions. Layne served as the BC Chamber of Commerce's pro bono legal advisor from 2018 to 2025 and has represented low-income individuals in court. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2014 and in Alberta in 2025.
