About John

John Adams is a partner who focuses on the formation, promotion and operation of private and retail investment funds, including private equity, hedge, credit, infrastructure, real estate and venture capital funds, as well as retail vehicles such as UCITS funds. He advises on drafting and negotiating fund documentation and managed account agreements, and he counsels sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors on acquisitions and disposals of fund investments as well as secondary transactions. John has particular expertise in the EU's Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive and advises on UK and European regulatory issues affecting fund managers and investment products. He was admitted in England and Wales in 2002, holds a first-class LL.B. (Hons) from University College London, and completed the Legal Practice Course with distinction. He has contributed to Tolleys Company Law and has done pro bono work with Kids in Need of Defense since 2019 and as a volunteer attorney for Lawyers Without Borders since 2007.
