About Laura

Laura Hanson is a Partner working in business disputes, corporate and commercial matters, insurance and construction litigation. She defends contractors, trades and engineers in property claims and represents manufacturers and distributors facing product liability suits. As coverage counsel, she advises insurers on property and liability policies, including homeowner, commercial general liability, and directors and officers coverage, and she defends credit unions accused of failing to arrange proper insurance. Her practice leans heavily on negotiation and mediation, though she also appears before the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Before joining the firm, Laura practiced commercial litigation in Alberta, appearing before the Alberta Queen's Bench and the Employment Standards Tribunal. She chaired the firm's Women's Forum in 2022 and 2023 and has served since 2018 as Member-at-Large for the insurance subsection of the Canadian Bar Association, and she volunteers with the Women's Insurance Cancer Crusade in support of cancer research.
