About David
David G. Yanko, K.C. earned his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan and articled with Phelan O'Brien & Rutherford in Toronto, being admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada. He later returned to Calgary and was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta, and later the Law Society of British Columbia. He began his career practicing criminal law, conducting roughly six hundred trials across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and has appeared at all levels of court in both provinces. In the 1990s he shifted his focus to personal injury, building his firm Yanko & Company into one of the largest personal injury practices in Calgary with a staff of about fifty. He has supervised approximately 40 articling students, several of whom, including Herman Sidhu, Deepak Sandhu and Roger Dueck, are now lawyers at the firm. He has handled more than ten thousand personal injury cases and was appointed King's Counsel in recognition of his contributions to the practice of law in Alberta.
