About Karina

Karina Scoggins practises in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office, focusing on labour and employment, professional regulation and privacy law. Her labour and employment work includes collective bargaining negotiations, drafting bylaws and policies, and advising federally regulated organizations on their obligations under the Accessible Canada Act. In professional regulation, she has guided clients through regulatory proceedings and contributed to policy and legislative development for regulatory bodies, drawing on more than ten years of prior experience as a Registered Nurse in Nova Scotia and remote Nunavut communities. Her privacy law practice includes advising on how privacy legislation applies to clients and helping them draft privacy policies. Karina holds a J.D. from Dalhousie University and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2025, and has guest lectured at the Schulich School of Law on mental disability and health privacy law.
