About Mark

Mark Heighton is an associate in Stewart McKelvey's Fredericton office, maintaining a general litigation practice focused on public law, municipal law, police and professional regulation, and employment law. He acts for public bodies, municipalities and employers in contentious matters, including seeking time-sensitive injunctive relief, arguing judicial reviews, and handling professional misconduct and constitutional matters. He has acted for municipal clients on expropriation matters, by-law reviews and statutory interpretation, and has advised clients on wrongful dismissal and performance management issues. Heighton also instructs in Civil Procedure at the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law and previously clerked for the Chief Justice of New Brunswick. He earned his JD from the University of New Brunswick in 2020 and a BBA from the same university in 2013, and was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2021.
