About Karen

Karen Gardiner is a corporate and commercial lawyer in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office whose practice centers on banking and financial services, particularly secured lending. She negotiates and drafts commitment letters, loan agreements and security documentation for lenders and borrowers across a range of credit facilities and asset securitizations, and also acts as agent counsel for law firms outside Nova Scotia on transactions involving Nova Scotia unlimited liability companies. Karen has been Nova Scotia counsel on major secured lending transactions, including a C$12 billion credit facility and a US$11.4 billion global refinancing. Before joining McInnes Cooper she was legal counsel and corporate secretary for a Halifax real estate development company. She earned her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 1996 and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1997.
