About Stephanie

Stephanie Kalinowski is a partner recognized for her work in pension and benefits law. Her practice covers governance, compliance and tax issues affecting the administration and sponsorship of pension, benefit and executive compensation plans. She advises employers, plan administrators and service providers on matters such as pension plan asset transfers, mergers and wind-ups, correction of enrolment and contribution errors, annuity purchases, delegated investment mandates, and governance structures for both single employer and jointly sponsored plans. Stephanie also guides clients on the tax treatment and employment aspects of incentive and group benefit plans, and has appeared before the Financial Services Tribunal, the Ontario Superior Court and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Before joining Torys, she was a partner and chaired the pension, benefits and executive compensation group at a management-side labour and employment law firm. She has held leadership roles with the Association of Canadian Pension Management, including Past-Chair positions nationally and regionally, and is active with several other pension and benefits organizations.
