About John
John L. Davis serves as managing partner, with a civil litigation practice concentrated on insurance and reinsurance disputes, including cyber security claims and other complex, catastrophic losses. John has appeared at every level of the Ontario courts and in arbitration proceedings. Before entering private practice, John worked as in-house counsel for an insurance company, handling commercial insurance, reinsurance and large loss exposures across products and general property and casualty lines. Areas of concentration include special risks, cyber insurance, property claims, subrogation, product liability and construction and condominium claims, among others. John earned a B.A. (Hons.) from Queen's University in 1973 and a J.D. from the University of Toronto in 1976, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1978. John also completed coursework through the Arbitrators' Institute of Canada and holds a Diploma in International Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is a founding member of the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society.
