About Duncan

Duncan Harvie is a partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office, advising on acquisitions for both buyers and sellers, emerging companies from incorporation through exit, venture capital financings, and general corporate commercial matters. He works closely with local businesses to help them grow, drawing on a background as a public school teacher and an undergraduate degree in physics for a distinctive approach to legal practice. Duncan graduated from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2014, where he was on the Dean's List and received a Schulich Scholarship, the G.O. Forsyth Prize, and the Professor Arthur L. Foote Memorial Bursary. He holds a B.Sc. from Mount Allison University and a B.Ed. from Mount Saint Vincent University, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2015 and the Newfoundland and Labrador bar in 2026.
