About John
John is counsel in the firm's Halifax office, practising insolvency and bankruptcy law as a member of the Asset Recovery and Insolvency Group. His work includes corporate reorganizations and restructurings, particularly in the resort and hotel industry, and he frequently assists clients facing court-imposed creditor protection orders. John was involved in the restructuring proposals of the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. George's and NewPage Port Hawkesbury Corp., among many other receiverships, bankruptcies and restructurings across Atlantic Canada. He belongs to the Insolvency Institute of Canada, where he formerly sat on the Board of Directors, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association's Bankruptcy Subsection and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. John has lectured at Dalhousie Law School and various professional conferences on insolvency and restructuring issues. He earned his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1976, an LL.M. from University College London in 1977, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1978.
