About James

James F. LeMesurier, K.C., is a partner at Stewart McKelvey's Saint John office, advising and representing employers on employment and labour relations law, with particular experience in construction labour relations, police labour relations and discipline, and workplace health and safety. In 2007 and 2008 he served as the employer representative on a provincially appointed panel that reviewed New Brunswick's workplace health, safety, and compensation system. His work has included successfully defending the project labour agreement for the Confederation Bridge project and negotiating collective agreements for some of New Brunswick's largest police services. James earned his LLB from the University of New Brunswick in 1980, completed a graduate program in law at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1981, and holds a BA from Dalhousie University. He was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1981, named King's Counsel in 2012, and elected Chair of the Harbour Station Commission in 2022.
