About James
James Diebert practises labour, employment and human rights law and has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission and numerous labour arbitration boards. He has extensive experience advising and representing non-unionized employees, including negotiating and litigating wrongful dismissal claims. James joined Chivers Carpenter as an associate in 2022 after articling and practising with a boutique Edmonton litigation firm, where he gained experience on large, complex commercial disputes. During law school he volunteered extensively with Student Legal Services, Civil Claims Duty Counsel and the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, and worked as a Dayleader/Volunteer Supervisor for Student Legal Services' Civil and Family Law Project.
