About Jack

Jack Powles maintains a broad civil and commercial litigation practice with an emphasis on construction law, contract disputes, and shareholder disputes, and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as well as the Alberta Court of King's Bench and Alberta Court of Justice. Before joining McCague Borlack, he articled and practised litigation at a well-regarded Calgary firm, helping individual and corporate clients with contractual disputes tied to construction, energy, and securities, and he later practised commercial and employment litigation at a Toronto firm. Raised in Winnipeg, he assisted entrepreneurs, small businesses, start-ups, and non-profits at a free business law clinic there. Jack earned his B.A. and J.D. at the University of Manitoba and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2023 and the Ontario Bar in 2025.
