About Ian

Ian Stauffer retired from Tierney Stauffer LLP after 42 years of practice and no longer represents clients directly, though he remains available to assist colleagues. Over his career he handled personal injury, insurance, employment, professional malpractice, defamation, and estate litigation matters for both plaintiffs and defendants, appearing extensively before civil juries and mediating or arbitrating more than 3,000 disputes. He presided in Small Claims Court for 25 years and continues to contribute to the court in that capacity. Ian was a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation with the Law Society of Ontario and a Chartered Mediator with the ADR Institute of Canada. He helped start Ottawa's Law Day Run/Walk and the "Lawyer Play," and continues to dedicate time to the Ottawa Lawyers Feed the Hungry program.
