About Emily

Emily Sheppard provides strategic advice on workplace law to both employers and employees, holding a combined Juris Doctor and Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto that brings a trauma-informed perspective to investigations and advocacy work. Sheppard maintains a particular focus on human rights law, regularly representing clients in wrongful dismissal and human rights disputes before courts, tribunals and administrative boards. Sheppard also works with employers to develop contracts, policies and practices that help prevent disputes, and counsels on terminations and restructurings. As a trauma-informed neutral investigator, Sheppard conducts and supports complex workplace investigations across sectors. Sheppard was called to the bar in 2023 and previously worked as a caseworker at Downtown Legal Services and Advocates for Injured Workers.
