About Emily

Emily MacKinnon is a litigator with more than a decade of experience in high-stakes litigation and arbitration. She has argued before the Supreme Court of Canada and at all levels of court in British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, and Ontario, with experience spanning class action defence, construction disputes, and contract and tort matters. Emily MacKinnon has also argued a range of appeals touching on defamation, shareholder disputes, constitutional law, and trusts. She sits on the boards of Vancouver Opera, the National Self-Represented Litigants' Project, and the UBC Allard School of Law Alumni Association, and serves as an adjunct professor at UBC. Emily MacKinnon received her Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2012, graduating as gold medalist and Wesbrook Scholar, and afterward clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin.
