About David

David M. Robbins focuses on finding remedies for historic and ongoing Crown interferences with Aboriginal occupation and use of lands and resources. He was lead counsel for the Quw'utsun Nation in the 2025 case establishing Aboriginal title to Fraser River settlement lands, and counsel for the Tsilhqot'in Nation in two landmark rulings, including the first-ever declaration of Aboriginal title in Canada (2014 SCC 44). He has advocated for Indigenous nations at all court levels for 24 years and previously served as a judicial law clerk at the BC Supreme Court and BC Court of Appeal. He holds a law degree from the University of Victoria and a philosophy degree from the University of British Columbia, and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2001. He is a guest lecturer at the University of Victoria, UBC, and Osgoode Hall law schools, a published author on Aboriginal law topics, and a former Co-Chair of the Aboriginal Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association (BC).
