About Daniel

Dan is a partner in the firm's Halifax office who practises civil litigation, class actions and tax litigation, appearing before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, the Tax Court of Canada, and the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. He has represented disabled Canadian veterans in a series of major class actions, including as co-counsel in Manuge v. Canada, the first case in which the Supreme Court of Canada upheld certification of a constitutional class action, and as lead counsel for thousands of CAF and RCMP veterans in subsequent disability pension and long-term disability cases. Dan taught Civil Trial Practice and Class Action Law and Procedure as a part-time professor at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, and served as President of the Canadian Bar Association's Nova Scotia branch. He was appointed King's Counsel in 2026 and also volunteers as counsel for the Halifax Refugee Clinic, representing refugee claimants before the Immigration and Refugee Board. Dan earned his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 2005 and a B.A. from Bishop's University in 2002, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2006.
